BARNSTEAD PURE WATER MAKER

barn.jpg (11692 bytes)The water purification system is designed around a Barnstead Nanopure infinity UV deionization system. For more detailed technical specifications see the product catalog at Barnstead's homepage.

Two pre-filters are attached to the inlet side of the system to allow low-grade input water to be used. The system is then connected to the ships or laboratory water supply through a standard garden hose. Use of this system will require the purchase of a set of deionization filters and pre-filters.

The Barnstead water system will be supplied along with a hard copy of the manufacturers operating manual, a scanned copy of which will soon be available here. Also accessible here is an abbreviated version concentrating on set-up and pack-up procedures for ship use, a Barnstead Users Guide.

USE WITH IN-THE-FIELD WATER CALIBRATIONS

WaterCal.jpg (27509 bytes)These Barnstead water makers can be used as part of the in-the-field water calibration units for use with the HiStars and/or ac9's on the HiStar package. Each water calibration unit is comprised of two components. The first component is the pure water for the calibration, supplied by the Barnstead water purification system (or any other high 'nano' purity producing water maker available). The second component is a portable calibration water-delivery unit, and this unit is considered part of the HiStar package.

The water delivery unit consists of a 20-liter polycarbonate carboy for holding the water, a pump for pressurizing the system, and associated tubing to attach the unit to an instrument, and a valve for regulating the water flow. This system is contained within its own box allowing it to be easily transported to the instruments that require calibration. (The document "How to perform a water calibration on HiStars or ac-9" will eventually have more details.)
