The HydroScatt6
measures backscattering coefficient at six different wavelengths.
It also has the capacity of measuring stimulated fluorescence
at two wavelengths. It comes with a pressure sensor. The instrument
can be operated in an autonomous manner or as part as a data acquisition
system.
In the autonomous
mode, the HydroScatt runs from its own batteries and data is logged
in the instrument nonvolatile memory.
We usually use it with a Wetlabs Modaps unit to power the instrument
and collect the data. This allows us to merge the HydroScat data
with other instruments like an AC9 or a CTD (discussed the data
processing section).
