SlowDROP Data Summaries

The SlowDROP was deployed from the side of the R/V Henderson for a total of 472 casts, of which 428 were considered to be "good casts". Refer to the instrumentation page for information on how the SlowDROP was configured for the East Sound, 1998 field study.

Presented in the pages indicated immediately below are 3-D waterfall plots of selected water column properties as measured with the CTD. These properties are the temperature and the density of the water as a function of depth and the temperature versus salinity relationship for each cast. Chlorophyll fluorescence (measured with a Wet Labs, Inc. FlashPak) is indicated in each plot by the colors of the lines.

In an attempt to provide an alternative format for viewing the above water column data, we've animated each 3-D waterfall plot in 2-D with the animation indicating the passage of time. Each animation shows the date and time of the SlowDROP cast at the top of the frame. The files are in AVI format and should be viewable on most systems. Note that the animations are 2-5 MB and they may take some time to load with a modem. To view the animations click one of the links below. To save the animation to your computer, right-click the link with the mouse and choose 'save target as...'.
